Book Advent Calendar – 16 December

Today’s book is chosen by Marina Sofia at She just happens to have chosen one of my top reads of this year, the second of only 2 5 star reads. This book is a beautifully written fictionalised account of the arrest and imprisonment of a Korean poet during WWII. This is more than a crime novel, or a political piece. It’s a poetic lesson on how freedom can be found in the most unlikely of places.

Thank you for the mention, Janet. Perhaps this book resonated with me so much because during the Communist era I lived in a country where everyone was a prisoner. And there still are countries like that in the world, which is chilling.

  2. Oops, 16 Dec?
This sounds like a great read and well picked Marina, to highlight one of your few 5 star reads!
